Many may think that gaining that softball scholarship is as difficult as passing a bar exam. Your daughter is now a junior in high school and there is no convincing her to become anything less than a softball player for the time being. Now you have decided that you need to look into scholarships and that is exactly what you start doing. You may be wondering if you have to be the best of the best in all areas of academics or even be the best of softball players. Actually, that is not the case at all. In fact, you don't really have to do anything but market your daughter, pretty much. She does, however, have a better chance in getting in if she has good grades. A lot of times, high school athletes don't include everything in their submission that they should. Often times they are overlooked because of that or the other great mistake of submitting the application to the wrong college. There are a few important things that you should know when you are in pursuit of college softball scholarships. You are in for a shocker. It is highly recommended that you hang out in the field for a few games and learn the ropes. They are rough players and remember, you are now a freshman all over again. Not only because that is your academic position, but you are also a freshman athletically. No need to be scared though, because you know your skills. It is just recommended that you are fully aware of the rougher side of softball, just shy of the pros. It is definitely a whole other league. There are several recruiting agencies that know exactly what they are doing and they will make your experience with finding the perfect college a whole lot easier. You thought that high school softball was tough? Recruiters will cover the things that you would otherwise leave out had it not been for them helping you. Depending on the organization she goes under, whether it be the NCAA or the NAIA, there are criteria to follow. You can be chosen for the NCAA as early as the third quarter of your junior year in high school. It is the bigger of the two organizations and most go with the NCAA. The NAIA is smaller but there are a fair number of students who get college softball scholarships through them as well. Usually, it is the students who couldn't make it by way of the NCAA or they were more focused on academics than softball. Although a recruiter does help in a lot of ways, there are several regulations and steps that the parents and the student must undergo during both the junior and senior years of high school. There is a list of questions and steps that are to be followed during these two years. The sooner you begin to market yourself and follow the required steps, the better her chance to get into the college that she wants. It is highly recommended that you know that you are required to get out there and get known. Often times, students are not chosen because they fail to market themselves. You have to prove that you are fit for the school and deserving college softball scholarships. That is why it is also recommended to have a recruiter to help you get the scholarship.
